NEED ADVICE.... Am I in labour? Should I get checked??

I'm 38+6 and all weekend I've been experiencing severe back pains, and cramping. They are not constant enough for me to time, which confuses me. Was at the Dr Friday we did a cervical check and she told me "my cervix was soft and starting to open and baby's head is very low" she also said I won't make it to my due date of April 6.... ive been walking and bouncing on my ball to try and help but no water breaking yet...TMI I did have diaherea Saturday night into Sunday morning... but haven't gone again since... wondering if I'm experiencing back labour and if I should call my L&D! It's so difficult to be comfortable at this point... and I am so ready to meet this little one.

Any advice mama's???
