I just need to vent.
So I love my mother to the moon and back but sometimes she can be the most difficult/toxic person in my life and today I finally stopped walking on eggshells around her.
I shared a handful of Easter photos of my June baby on my very locked down Facebook this morning. Well, my mom likes to screenshot some of my baby posts and repost them and I’ve always let it slide with a small complaint to my sister but today she kind of crossed the line. She took a screenshot of her favorite Easter photos, posted them to her page and then TAGGED 10 people. I’m talking my two siblings, their spouses, two grandparents, a friend of her’s and a few aunts and uncles. I have every single one of these people on my Facebook already, but what really bothered me is that my daughter’s face was now plastered on to THEIR profiles for anyone of their own Facebook friends to see.
So this time I texted my mom and kindly reminded her that tagging someone means that post is visible to everyone they are friend’s with and that we try to keep our baby protected as best we can while still sharing photos. She quickly deleted the post, made a Facebook status about how she can’t do anything right and then sent me a long ride text message about how she’s just trying to be a proud grandparent and I’m taking that away from her. I told she could share the photos, just don’t tag anyone and she replied with “Nope, it’s fine. Happy Easter I guess..”
I told my facebook-less husband about all of this and he was so proud of me for standing my ground but man, my mother is so mentally and emotionally exhausting sometimes 😪😪😪😪
Does anyone else have a parent like this?!
