What advice do you have for first time moms raising children

My advice is the same for a parent of any age. 
1:  Always try your best to have patience and when you cant own up to it. 
2: Apologize and own up to mistakes when you make them (and you will make them. A LOT but thats ok because you learn from them)
3: Dont rush them to grow up. Soak up every moment and every second that you can be one of those moments will be the last hug, the last snuggle, wtc
4: Be open to learning from them like you expect them to learn from you. They are the ones that are guiding us with how they need us, not the other way around. 
5: Be flexible with your expectations and smaller goals are more achievable than little goals. 
6: Celebrate EVERYTHING! Positive praise and excitement go a long way! And for some its even more than you could imagine. 
7: Unconditional positive regard. If you dont know what this is please take some time to look into it 
8: Practice self care for yourself too. Parental burnout is a thing that a lot of people dont talk about, but it happens to all of us. 
9: its ok to not know everything because you dont know everything. Tell them you dont know but still make sure to get them an answer! 
10: Always try to have the best intents and remember to also be kind to yourself during the process. Being a parent is the hardest thing ive ever done and im only 18m into it!

Dont compare yourself or your baby or your parenting style to others.

Don’t shut people out because of your own insecurities. If good people want to be a part of your baby’s life, welcome them in. I was so guilty of shutting people out in the beginning to guard my territory, so to speak. Or to show people who was in charge because I had a few people who would overstep boundaries, I treated everyone as if they would overstep boundaries. Even innocent people.
