Overreacting? Time to switch doctors?

Sarah

I took my nipt and gestational diabetes test last week. The nurse called with the nipt results but didn’t address the other tests. When I started to bring it up she proceeded to say everything came back normal that’s why she didn’t mention the others. However, I got the results directly from the lab the day prior and already knew that my gestational diabetes test came back at 44. Supposedly, according to “Dr. Google” under 70 is low and under 50 is really bad indicating hypoglycemia. The nurse was full of excuses as to why that was normal. I asked the OBGYN to take another look through the portal and he simply referred me to someone else.

His exact words: I saw the result but figured if you were symptomatic with that glucose in the 40's that the lab would have called me immediately (which they frequently do) or you would have called. That result if someone is asymptomatic is not concerning. However if, as you say, you were symptomatic, then you should see your PCP or an endocrinologist for evaluation. Dr. F

The worst part is that I am symptomatic and have felt terrible this pregnancy compared to my last. I’ve been telling the Dr that but he just dismissed everything as normal pregnancy stuff.

I already made an appointment for next week with an endocrinologist and I made an appointment with another OBGYN but it’s not for another month.
