Yet another...
So I was reading the news and body cam footage for Adam Toledo came out. After it happened the line was well he shot at an officer so they fired back and he had the gun in his hand when he was shot. Now that statement has been backtracked and the body cam footage shows he did not fire at the cop. It also clearly shows he raised his hands with no gun in them and was shot. Should he have had a gun-no. Should he have run-no. Should he have been out that late- probably not. Should he have been killed-fuck no. And yes the officer did see where he was shot and medical was there but it is a perfect example of the issue with American policing. Shoot first and deal with the carnage after. This kid made a ton of stupid choices but not a single.one of them should have meant a body bag at the end of the night. At what point are people who back the blue going to admit it is a systemic issue. Again he shouldn't have run or had a weapon at any point but he put his hands up weaponless after not firing at the cop and was killed. For those who are gonna defend the cops actions entirely I ask what is gonna make you finally agree mass, system wide, top to bottom reform is needed?? He should have been arrested and dealt with-not killed. This is from the body cam. There is no gun in his hands. It just. Keeps. Happening.
