Would you be upset?

I drove my boyfriend to the gas station because he wanted to buy himself 2 Kratom shots (Kratom is basically a plant that has a chemical in it that can be mind altering/high feeling). He went inside while I waited in the car. He came out a little while later saying his card was declined but swore up and down it had $40+ dollars on it. He then asked me if he could use my card to buy it and and that it was $20. I said yes. He goes in and buys it with my card. When he gets back in I asked how much it was and he said $35. He didn’t even ask me if this was okay, even though it was almost double the original price he told me it would be. I told him I didn’t appreciate him not telling me it was even more money and he said it’s because he felt embarrassed about his card not going through so he just wanted to hurry up with the transaction and didn’t realize. I don’t feel comfortable spending that much money on basically a drug. It’s just two little shots (like those energy shots you can buy at the dollar store). Would you be upset?
