Do babies need formula

Question

Now I’m not judging at all. But my neighbor and I was chatting her baby is a month older then mine. My baby is 8 months her is 9 months. She stated she no longer gives her baby formula only table food and juice with water. I always thought babies needed formula more then table food but also this my first child. She has other children but says this the first time she has stopped giving formula. I personally will not stop giving my baby formula until 1 year old. Does anyone else not give they baby formula anymore? I was curious as to why and she said because her baby gets table food and doesn’t even miss the milk. I do wonder if that’s ok for the babies health but I suppose it’s not my concern because not my child I guess I’m more just curious. Maybe she know something I don’t I mean her baby does walk 🤷‍♀️.

Formula/breastmilk is the main source of calories for babies under one, after that, they should be getting most their calories from food.

Under 1yr their primary food source should be formula or breast milk. Some people arent very educated on proper nutrition. My MIL gave her babies cows milk at only 3 months old and then complained her babies were always colicky

They need the fats and balanced nutrition out of formula yet at that age.  Most people don’t offer a diet high enough in healthy absorbable fats before a year old and that’s the main issue

I was told formula or breastmilk is the main source of nutrition till 1 years old. By 6 months you need to start introducing baby to food, so that way by 1 year it’ll be their main source of nutrition. My daughter weaned off formula by 1 not before.

I know some drs are saying can wean from breast milk/formula between 9-12m now, but to be put on homo milk instead. 
My dr believes that breast milk/formula should be main source of nutrition, & I agree, have always gone with “food before 1 is just for fun”.

My baby was eating three meals a day at 9 months she still breastfeed but not enough for a meal.. I weaned her a 10 months and she has been doing fine with water and just recently introduced whole milk at 11 months.. but I too was confused about this since my baby had been eating three meals since 9 months and she’s perfectly fine and healthy doctor says she’s fine that her charts are going up so nothing to worry about..

You do realize that before formula was invented... people breastfed and then weaned their kids to table food right?

I think parents should be able to raise their kids how they see fit without someone judging or shaming them. 
My son is 6 months old and I feed him table food and chocolate milk and juice and he takes like 3 bottles a day and one at night and hes fine.
Let her raise her kid how she fits

Maybe she’s got different advice from her doctor but I’ve always been told that they should be having both table food and either breastmilk or formula until 1 year, gradually weaning off the milk. All health professionals have also always stressed that juice is not necessary.

I feel like mine still needs that extra nutrition, but I guess each baby is different. 🤷🏻‍♀️ My babe is eating lots of table foods-but def doesn’t eat enough to sustain her yet.
