Can I stop my birth control pill randomly

I just was told I have Covid yesterday and I know it can increase your risk of blood clots and birth control can too so I want to get off and use the non hormonal IUD. Is it ok to just randomly quit birth control during the second week of this pack? I just really don’t want to be on it anymore I’m kind of freaked out by the blood clot risk. But the other thing is that two weeks ago I lost my pill packet and couldn’t take any for 5 days and then I started my period before starting this current pack Sunday the 11th. So the other question is will I get my period again after stopping again this soon after?
