How did you and your hubby/S.O split parental duties?

I am not a mommy yet. But I am in my tww for ivf #2. In my mind I have this image that hubby and I will split baby duties as much as possible as not to overwhelm both of us.
My question is mommys, how did you and your hubby or partner share baby duties to make first time parenting to a newborn a little more smoother then one parent taking on everything?

I was breastfeeding so I pretty well handled all the baby stuff because there was no need for both of us to tend to baby or lose sleep constantly when she just wanted to nurse. He kept up with all the household stuff, grocery shopping, and everything like that. He also works full time and owns a business so I just handled the baby responsibilities and he just needed to spend time with her really. During the newborn phase I literally was tied to breastfeeding, and he did absolutely everything else that needed done for us or the house.

I did everything baby, my husband took care of the house and took our daughter if I said I needed a minute. It's what worked for our relstionship, he was and still is terrified of tiny babies and I respect that, it's not his cup of tea and I knew that when we planned this child. Now that she's 1, all he wants to do is spend time with her and play with her and show her things.
Every relationship is different, figure out what works for yours.

We just kinda wing it and that works for us🤪 We have the most amazing marriage. He’s an incredible human all around and it didn’t stop when he became a dad.  Basically he makes everything better.  I dunno, I don’t know how to do anything else, but just dive in haha!  And have fun!!! (If you’re exhausted and things seem hard—it will pass)

My husband and I talked out expectations, especially with him working from home while I was on maternity leave. Communication is definitely key. Also, be prepared for nothing to go the way you guys planned/agreed. And not necessarily in a bad way. I ended up with a c section, exclusively pumping, and had the baby in her own room instead of the bassinet in with us. We take turns who sleeps in the room with her, now we split feedings, and my husband had to do more at first when I was recovering. Just make sure that you guys are talking through it all!

We didnt. I stayed home and healed from a c section and got up to our son alone at night and did everything myself. The only time my husband "helped" was for 3 days after we got home.
Not even a week later he came home from work one night and snapped at me and asked me why I hadnt made food yet (and I was sitting in the recliner in pain from my surgery and still dealing with baby blues)
So yeah.. Thats how my post partum healing/ mom journey went.
He only wanted the baby when we were at church around his family so they thought he was this great dad. Now I work night shift, come home and get 3-4 hours of sleep then go work a 12 hour shift and every day off I clean
