When to start trying again ...

Question

We lost our son at 40 weeks about 2.5 weeks ago. We saw my doctor today, and she said to wait 3 months to start trying again. That just seems like forever right now 😭 we tried for 4 years for the one we just lost. I’m just desperate to be pregnant again. Has anyone gotten pregnant sooner than their doctor recommended after a stillbirth?

I got pregnant 10 weeks after my daughter was stillborn. Was never given a time frame. I am currently 30 weeks pregnant.

My midwife did not give me a specific time frame to wait. I understand that trying so soon is not for everyone but it felt right for my husband and I. My daughter was stillborn full term just this past December. I ended up pumping and donating some breastmilk for a couple months so my cycle did not return immediately. But once I weaned I started tracking. We just found out we are pregnant with our rainbow on our second try. I am almost 6 weeks now and taking it day by day, allowing myself to feel whatever emotions come my way. Positive affirmations for pregnancy after loss have been really helpful for me. Sending you love and baby dust for whenever you both decide the time is right ♡

I wouldn’t recommend trying any earlier than recommended. I had a 41 week stillbirth. They recommended no less than 6 months. If your not healed enough it can cause all types of problems including placental abruption. I know it’s hard to wait. But the time does come. This week is my 6 month anniversary as well as my first try at conceiving again via IUI.
