Ever had facebook market place not deliver?

I need to get a desk, I've seen some on fb that I like, but it's from people that live far away and can ship it to me. It seems kind of sketchy to just pay online to someone who just sells stuff as a side hussle. How do I not get scammed? Is there a way for me to make sure I'll get my product? Or should I just buy locally ?

They have good reviews but most of them are from just the month of March. ?
