Membrane Sweep? Effective?

Question

Has anyone had a membrane sweep done that put them into labor shortly after? Did it hurt? I have my 40 week appointment today and thinking about requesting a sweep if I’m dilated enough (I’ve been at 0cm thus far 😭). We’ve got an induction scheduled for this Monday, but I’d really like to go into labor spontaneously if possible. What has been your experience?

Did it 3 times with my first and it didn’t work. Had it done at 38 and 39 weeks with April baby. I had it done Tuesday afternoon and went into labor Wednesday night. I don’t think it was the only thing that got things going but it definitely helped! 
I always said worth a shot to try. Not painful in my opinion, just uncomfortable.

I had a membrane sweep at 40 weeks with my first, and it was quite uncomfortable. I was crampy all day after, and then the cramps became contractions and my son was born the next day. Good luck!

Mine worked! 2cm when I had it done. It doesn’t hurt but it is uncomfortable. Tolerable though. Especially when you know it could possibly trigger labor. Any discomfort is welcomed at that point 😂 
Expect cramping and spotting after! And hope for those cramps to turn into full blown contractions! 🙏🏼

I just had one at 40+5 was only weirdly uncomfortable was told I’m around 5-6cm. With previous pregnancies I remember it feeling more on the painful side when I wasn’t as dilated..

Yes! I’ve had it done with two of my pregnancies (I was over the due date) they worked pretty quickly or at least helped.

I had a membrane sweep at 39+5 and went into labor on my due date @ 40 so I think technically it worked? I was loosing lots of brown mucus afterwards. I was crampy and didn't think I was in labor but I was. It's pretty uncomfortable but it goes quick.
