Heavy bleeding with a good outcome?

I have been having gushes of blood enough to soak an overnight pad, with light bleeding in between for the last 4 days. I went to the ER yesterday and they saw a 5week 6 day baby and a heartbeat. Everything is attached and my HCG was 55,000. I've had miscarriages but they always came on suddenly and the bleeding would get worse until it was over. I'm not despairing but I know it doesn't look good. Has anyone had this and ended up with a baby after all?
