Hsv1? How contagious is it ?

How contagious  is HSV 1 ? If someone has it and they kiss a 1 year old or 5 month old are they able to pass it . Or if they share the same spoon or straw ?

Do they have a current outbreak? 
If the person does not have a cold sore and hasn’t had one for roughly a week- completely healed- it shouldn’t be an issue. 
I’ve had cold sores since I was a teen. I’ve never given another person a cold sore. Not my husband of 20 years, not past partners, not family, not my children- not even my preemie babies, not a single soul. I kiss people, share food, etc. 
I know days before an outbreak happens- I also know when I’m likely to have one. I know how to protect myself and others during an outbreak and I give myself plenty of time after it’s healed for contact (4-7 days after). People need to be aware and careful when they have outbreaks.
