How many IUIs?

My husband and I have been ttc for five years. We just had our third failed IUI 😢 How many IUIs have you had before trying IVF? I would like to try a few more cycles, but don’t want to waste precious time if they aren’t going to work.  Also IVF is so expensive, it’s not really something we can afford. I feel a bit hopeless and defeated.

I did three IUI’s which were all unsuccessful. I did clomid one and letrozol another and the third was a higher dosage. I was unexplained infertility. We couldn’t afford IVF and wasn’t sure if we should keep doing IUI’s or not. We took a break from IUI’s for a few months over the holidays and ended up pregnant on our own after over two and a half years total of ttc. I’m now 24 weeks with baby boy. I wish you all the best. I know how devastating it can be when all three IUI’s 
 don’t work out and you just aren’t sure what to do.

I went with an aggressive method. Letrozole, gonal-f, Cetrotide, and ovridal and IUI two days in a rows. With that concoction, I conceived twins. Don’t give up.

4 :) the 4th IUI worked. They increased my letrazole dose after the second and third one and it worked :)

I am so sorry Erin question what medication protocol have you tried? I have done a few medicated cycles that did not work then I tried Letrozole and Clomid but my iui did not work. 
My new RE change my protocol and I tried Letrozole and Ganol f and I was able to get pregnant on my 2nd iui but ended chemical miscarriage. I am currently on my 3rd iui same medication protocol and on my tww hoping it works. I been quoted 15,000 -20,000 for IVF 😭

I’ve heard the 4th IUI has the highest success rate. Positive thoughts for you.

So in total I did eight. I got pregnant after the third but lost our baby. Then did five more with no luck. The last two were with menopur. We moved onto ivf. I am three days away from egg retrieval so don’t have success stories with ivf yet. Personally I couldn’t afford it before now so it wasn’t an option. But personally wished I moved in sooner.

We did three IUIs with injectables and all three failed. My doctor won’t do any more than three so we are taking a break from anything until we can do IVF. Totally heartbreaking. Good luck to you
