How do you handle family members who only talk about themselves? These ppl that get louder when someone else tries to interject?

Please do leave suggestions and keep in mind kids could be involved so setting a good example should take precedent. But damn these people think we're compiling journals and facts to assemble a historical archive in their name- the type you deal with b/c you're related, not out of personal pursuit.

I cut off all contact. I let my family know I've cut off all contact this person.  if there's any parties that I throw they're 100% not invited or welcome to if they come the cops get called. if somebody else throws a party . if they want me there that person better not be there because of that person is there's going to be a problem. Usually happens there's a set time for me to come an leave that person just shows up but usually the entire family just ends up cutting people off as well.

I just let them talk lol. My inlaws have known me for 13 yrs and yet know nothing about me because they have spent 13 yrs talking about themselves. If they don't care to know me not gonna force it so they can talk all day. We just tell the kids after that behavior like grandma/grandpa is rude and we should always ask questions about others and listen. You learn more listening. I don't have the care or energy to fight those people haha

I have an aunt like this 😂 I will literally walk away from her when she’s in mid sentence if I need to. She’s so self absorbed she doesn’t even notice she just finds the next person to latch onto. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’d say, “ excuse me, I have something to say” or “can I say something?” Or “hey you have to let others speak too, that’s how a conversation works”!
