IUI Protocols

My husband and I did an IUI in February 2020 while taking letrozole. Since then we have done 1 medicated letrozole cycle and I am currently on my 3rd cycle of clomid. What steps did your doctor have you take for an IUI? We felt very neglected. I took letrozole from CD3-7, tested with OPKS and was told not to BD from CD10 until I got a positive opk unless that went over 5 days. Well I got a positive on CD14 so we missed my entire fertile window. Needless to say we didn’t get pregnant and now after 3 cycles of Clomid our new fertility doctor won’t let us use it again without IUI. I read a lot about taking letrozole/Clomid, getting an ultrasound and taking trigger shots but none of that happened for us last time so it left a bad taste in my mouth. We are going to a new clinic but I would like to know what your clinics protocols are and if they were successful?? We will be having another doctors appointment soon because AF is due in 5 days
