Love language

I think I’m having a hard time grasping the idea. Is the idea of love language the language you speak through to others or the language that you like receiving OR BOTH?

Because I feel like I love gifting people things to make people happy...

But for me in terms of what makes ME feel important is when people affirm and communicate with me that I am important in their life etc.

So when I say my love language is “____” is it acts of service or words of affirmation or both
