Thoughts on Censorship?

Question

What are some pros and cons of rating movies, records,and TV shows?  Do you think access to the Internet should  be filtered?

Reguarding  censorship when it come to books. Who do YOU think should decide what books are used in classrooms/available in libraries or are banned.

Too many good topics there! So, I'm just going to pick one: internet censorship. Net nuetrality's been on my mind lately. I'm terrified that some U.S. presidential candidate that's against net nuetrality will be elected and we'll lose it, just like the major telecom (e.g., cable) corporations are lobbying for. 
   
For those of you that don't know, net neutrality is notion that internet content will be streamed equitably by internet providers. So, for example your cable company (Comcast, Time Warner, etc.) is not allowed to charge companies to deliver their content faster. It means that small business webpages can compete with businesses that have more money, like Amazon. It's a way of censoring new businesses that don't yet have the money to get their content delivered/loaded faster by the internet providers.
   
I urge you to find out where your federal politicians stand on net neutrality. Striking down this law will only enrich cable companies and other internet providers, while making it very difficult for small businesses online to compete with richer big businesses.

Rated entertainment like movies and shows help parents (or sensitive individuals) filter what they want to see. I'm for internet neutrality hands down. The internet is one of mans greatest tools and is so detrimental to us currently. Yeah, there's a lot of bad stuff, but there's also a lot that's good. It's bad enough companies can push annoying ads on us now, but can you imagine somewhere like Comcast deciding if you can use youtube? Pinterest? Google? They would be selling it all to us in packages like tv channels. I certainly don't want to live in a modern world like that. The internet is my main source of entertainment, knowledge and a quick way to relax. And what if I want to start an online business someday? Life is just extensive enough as it is.

I think that the parents of kids should be the ones who decide what books are used. Give them a list of choices and information on said book(s) and have a vote. Parents in this country need to be involved in their children's school lives more. Half the parents don't even know on a given day what their kid is learning.
