Get a 2nd opinion if you need it!
So here's my story.
I went to energency over a week ago with a gut feeling that I was miscarrying and experiencing bleeding. A follow up with my specialist assurred me everything was okay and he'd see me next week to check on me. I asked for a blood test to check hcg but was told it was unnecessary. The receptionist called me back to ask if I was aware the specialist had just changed my appointment from face to face to a phone consult. Which I was not aware of. I continued to bleed throughout the week but the specialist had told me it was ok and normal so I put my doubt aside. A week had been, still bleeding, so I took myself to emergency again. They informed me, hcg had dropped by 3,000 from my last test that had been taken. I had another ultrasound which confirmed, no embryo was located just an empty sac.
I call my specialist to notify him. He calls me back to suggest that everything is still fine. I was firm and said it clearly was not fine. He then turns around and says he will schedule me for a D&C the next day. When I said I wanted a second opinion and time to think about my options, he became very abrupt saying that anyone I saw would just refer me back to him.
Miscarriage is already such a tough thing to go though and it's lonely. To also be confused by your doctor should not be okay. I'm glad I chose to get a 2nd opinion. If I've learnt anything from this experience, it's to trust your gut feeling.
