Coming off birth control

I have been with my fiancé for 10 years. I have been on birth control the whole time and I have experienced so many negative side effects. I have tried 8 different birth controls and they all lower my sex drive and make me moody. I have about had it and want to come off birth control but I am not ready to have kids yet and I hate using condoms. Can anyone share their experience not being on birth control and still having sex without getting pregnant? Is the pull out method effective enough?
