Am I in early labor ?

40+ 4 days Ftm here and i lost my mucous plug followed my my bloody show around 7 am Friday. It’s 2 am now and I’ve only been having some mildly painful contractions since then,they still hurt and they are persistent but they’re not the type of contractions that would have me screaming in pain. My water hasnt even broken yet,I’m so sad and discouraged I haven’t progressed at all. I’m crying I want to meet my son so bad... has this happened to anyone else ??

I wouldn’t call it early labor if you’re over 40 weeks. But it sounds like you could be in labor! Congratulations! 🎉

You can be! Take a bath, rest and wait. If it's the latent phase and the start of labor, the surges will eventually increase in frequency and strength, but it can take time. Just try to rest and save energy. Waters can break at any time of the labor, so not having your waters broken doesn't mean you're not progressing. My waters broke two hours before my baby was here when I was already 8 cm dilated - before that I had 25 hours of active labor and a latent phase of several days. All the surges are progress and preparing you for giving birth, no matter what's the deal with the waters or dilation. 🙏🏻
