Summer Break Ideas???

Hey guys! So, school is finally out in my area and I have an almost 8 year old daughter. I also have a 2 year old daughter. I was wondering what you ladies normally do during summer break with your kiddos? We don't have a lot of extra money atm with number 3 on the way, so we can't just go somewhere cool everyday like some I've read lol. I need some at home ideas to do with the girls so our days aren't so boring or they're not solely on tablets all day. Of course well occasionally go to the park, get kid meals, etc. Just not much to do in my rural area and with some covid restrictions in place as well. For instance, our local library had a weekly thing for kids but now they're not doing anything currently this summer. Any ideas would be great, thanks! :)

A sprinkler! Kids love that lol. Also if you have a nearby pool you can get a membership to, that could be fun. Sometimes they are pricy, but definitely worth it in my opinion. And the kids can make some friends and have buddies to play with.

If you have a good yard, get a kiddie pool, a slip slide, sport games. I get a lot ideas for crafts and at-home activities from Pinterest. Take them on hikes, parks, or whatever you have in the area that's free, a different playground each day so they don't get bored. And leave some rest days in between, you can't always entertain them, give them a chance to figure it out on their own.

Water guns. Water balloons. Anything with water. Camping in the backyard. White Xmas lights. They have cheap projectors on Amazon and do movie night under the stars with a white sheet. Check with community college or ymca or any other public pools. Some charge of course. Neighbors with a pool. Bubbles. Side walk chalk. We have a store called 5 below they have everything. Games. Outdoor play. Ride bikes.Hula hoop. Barbecue, recipes and how to videos on YouTube, baking, Sand art, watercolors, coloring books, flying a kite, puzzles, origami‘s, they should have books for pretty cheap, do you stuff that you did when you were a kid, play sports, hopscotch, jacks, My mother brings back all of her “Third World country” games as my brother called them. LOL. But we do all of the old things school things with the kids￼. The paper cups with a string, gardening, planting their own vegetables and fruits and flowers and watching them grow, they have butterfly kits, you get the caterpillars in a whole little container and you watch the butterfly grow and let it fly away, you visit local farms, feed the animals, pick fruit, tractor ride, you go to the lake or whatever you have nearby, have a picnic, feed the ducks, you go to the park, you have fun with the kids basically just think of your childhood and things that you did, or things that your parents did I’m sure they told you stories or your grandparents, and the Internet is a great resource, I look on Pinterest, google cheap activities to do with kids at home or something like that I’m sure things will pop up, make your own slime, different kinds of slime, Probably can get stuff for cheap at hobby lobby or Joannes fabrics, or whatever craft stores you have, write plays and skits and act them out, Write stories and￼￼ Use your camera and take pictures, take up photography or pottery or painting or have a thing for each day but they have to take a picture of five different things, or something like that like when you were a kid in the car and you played the license plate game finding car plates from out of state, or I spy with my little eye. Think of car trips when you were a kid, like you said the library, check with your local bookstore or Barnes & Noble they usually have events, your local malls, they always have stuff to do in the summer, make your own camp at home, tug-of-war, ring Toss, make an obstacle course, build a fort, Cornhole toss, learn to sew, or knit or crochet, Shadow puppets, papier-mâché, just get creative. We live near a lake and do lake days with lunch and fishing pole (I have all boys). It’s cheap and affordable.

Throw some wild flower seeds in a garden bed and then let them pick the flowers (it's not going to kill a lot of time, but still fun). Picnic lunch. Set up a relay race (there's some different ideas on pinterest). Make homemade ice cream or fruit smoothies. Get a few age appropriate work books and do reading and work book for an hour in the mornings.
