Babies head circumference increased 10 percentile??

Question

Hi ladies! I have a beautiful perfect baby girl and we went for our 9 month check up today. Her head went from 88th percentile to 98 percentile from 6 month to 9 month appt and my peditrician is sending us to a neurologist for a second opinion. She said she doesn’t think anything is wrong and may have a big head but still wants us to go. Has anyone else experienced this? I think she is fine but it makes me nervous!

I have a big headed baby. Lol  We had to have an ultrasound done to be sure there was nothing wrong. She just has her dad's big head. Haha

My opinion s based on my NICU experience. My baby was 3percentile in head circumference. They weren’t bothered about the absolute value but said if it changes rapidly over a short period of time that’s when they worry. It is definitely good to check out.

I’m sure they’re just checking to be cautious given she’s gone up to the 98th percentile. Fluctuating 10 percentile points is not much in the scheme of things. My son’s head was always around the 90th percentile. My husband’s family all just have big heads. My MIL can never find hats to fit!

No be inspired!! Don’t be jealous but take what you saw and if it doesn’t require more money, make changes that will make you happy!! We just got back from my sister in law’s and their house is insane. Their back patio and pool and summer kitchen look like a Mediterranean resort. We live in a humble town home right now without any bells and whistles. But it helps us stay motivated to save and get our dream house and in the meantime, I pick up little things around her house that I like and can implement.

My son’s head has always been over 100 to 90%. His height dropped one appointment from 80 to 40% and his dr was like oh they probably just measured wrong. Sure enough next appointment it had gone back up again.

Gorgeous baby girl you have! And she looks perfectly fine. Had this happen to a friend of a friend, and they sent her to be checked out and had the mother in a total panic that something was really wrong with her baby. Nothing was wrong at all-fuss about nothing. I’m sure you’ll be totally fine too.
