X-rays during pregnancy ?

I broke my thumb in the beginning of my pregnancy and had x rays done on my hand, I am now trying to go to the dentist for a tooth that has been bothering me - I’m 32 weeks would I be able to go? They told me they would do x-rays on me 😬 I did ask if I could go pregnant and they said it was totally up to me

X-ray tech here. When you get X-rays done they collimate(isolate radiation)to the area being xrayed and put on a lead apron to block any scatter radiation-some places will even double apron you.  The amount of radiation needed to do teeth X-rays is very small. The bigger and denser the area being xrayed, the more radiation needed to penetrate. You’re good.

You can do the appointment and opt out of the X-rays.  I just did that part week.  I did choose to do an X-ray on my foot and ankle tho

But during my first pregnancy I had a serious root canal procedure and they had to take x-rays before and after. Just let them know you're pregnant.

When I went to the dentist while pregnant they told me they avoid X-rays, but if you’re having issues and it needs to be done then they could do it (and do it as safely as they can). 
So if you’re having tooth issues definitely go to the dentist and let them know you’re pregnant, they can tell you your best options and if X-rays can or should be done
