So I started taking the pill July 31, 2016. I was 16 years old and had horrible period cramps, birth control was supposed to help manage the symptoms (it did for maybe 8 months). I wasn't having sex so as far as BIRTH CONTROL went it was unnecessary, but my doctor thought it could help with my cramps so I was down. When it stopped helping I didn't see the point in stopping the pill, it wasn't a huge deal at the time. I'm almost 22 now and I've been on the pill for 5 years next month. I just stopped taking it yesterday. I'll be clear, I'm asexual, I'm not having sex anyway so I don't see the point of being on birth control to keep from getting pregnant or to manage the symptoms of my period when they don't do either of those things personally. I also gained a ton of weight taking BC (and only lost it recently because of health problems) so after this long with all these things put together I decided I was done with the pill. I don't know why I feel weirdly free by doing this but I think going off BC was one of the best decisions I've made in a while. Just wanted to speak that into the world because I feel like this is going to be another milestone.
