Does your levels go up or down with ectopic ?

My doctor just called and diagnosed me with an ectopic pregnancy but my HCG levels were going up instead of down. They are just rising slowly. I have no pain and only a little brown spotting! Should I get a different opinion or could it be ectopic?

I had an ultrasound about a week ago and they couldn’t find baby but I assumed I was just extremely early, maybe like 5 weeks at the time.. now I should be 6-7 weeks , my levels were 4235 Tuesday & 4500 Friday!
