Seizure or just spacing out?

So this past week I’ve noticed my almost 2 year old daughter having episodes where she will space out. It’s happened twice this past week, she will be playing and then just stare straight ahead blankly, when I try to talk to her or tickle her she doesn’t move.  It lasts about 5-10 seconds then she goes back to playing. Yesterday when it happened it looked as tho her right eye was slightly turning inward which kinda freaked me out.  I can’t tell if this could be seizure activity or if she’s just spacing out.   I mean I space out periodically too so it hard to see what’s happening with her.  Has this every happened to anyone else’s child and did you ever find out what it was?

I would talk to your pediatrician. It’s certainly odd for her not to respond to you, especially not to respond to being tickled.

My 21 month old does that when he pees.  It doesn’t hurt to bring it up to the dr though just in case it’s something more.  While extremely rare, there are seizures like that

Its definitely something to bring up to her pediatrician. A friend of mines her daughter is 2. She has seizures with hers she has 2 different ones. One of them she just spaces out and responds to absolutely nothing she is like that for a few minutes. If it lasts more than 5 minutes her mom has to give her meds. The other one her eyes roll in the back of her head but she never has convulsions. Same rule if it lasts more than 5 minutes her mom has to give her medicine.

I have epilepsy. I’d record it as well. Also, I have so many seizures I can talk through them now.. so people can rarely tell when I’m having one at all. Every minor muscle twitch or blank stare is a seizure for me all the way up to a grand mal seizure. 2yr olds also just ignore you sometimes. Mine did lol.

There’s a type of seizure called absent seizures which sounds like it. Take data of how long and often it’s been happening and tell pediatrician.

Record it and make an appt with her pediatrician. There is a type of seizure called an absence seizure where the symptom is exactly what you described. Not trying to scare you but it’s better to get it checked out and it be nothing than it be something and not do anything about it. My son has some medical conditions so we have to very aware of any changes in his activities and seizure activity is one of the things we have to look out for.

I would talk to the pediatrician. I have three kids and spacing out is normal, but in my experience it isn't normal to respond to not being tickled. My middle son is 2 and autistic, he spaces out a lot and doesn't respond to his name ever, but even when he spaces out, he still responds to being tickled. I agree with another commenter who recommended you record it next time it happens and show the pediatrician.
