I saw a TikTok and it got me thinking. Growing up I always thought those with 2 story houses or 2 car garages were “rich”. Do you have any?

Growing up, if you had namebrand food/snacks you were well off. If you could participate in after school functions (like girl scouts, sports, band, etc) you were well off, because those cost money. Having a birthday party anywhere but at your own house. Name brand clothing that wasn't from goodwill. Appliances/vehicles that worked without needing to be fixed constantly. Air conditioning.

You could always tell the kids from well off families coz they would have fancy bday parties at McDonald’s or indoor play centres and invite the whole class. Kids like me would have bday parties at home and we could invite about 8 friends and just run round the house n garden eating homemade sandwiches and crisps 😂

When I was a kid, a couple of my friends who had two-story houses also has separate playrooms and walk-in pantries with name brand snacks. That was living large to me

Not in all cases but in most cases I have learned that the more “nice things you have” the higher your debt factor. I have learned to no longer be jealous of others or think that others are better off than I am because they have XYZ...

I always say, I’ll know I made it when we have Central air. Other things would be a double door fridge, professional cabinets, no more stick tile floors... stupid things but Central air, yeah we made it!!
