Maternity leave.. long enough? What after?!

Hey all, is it just me or handing a 6wk old baby off to day care seem really wrong? This is my first and I just want to know how everyone feels about it and what everyone has done with the options given for work and home life.

I have 16 week maternity leave and that too seems so short to me. I don’t know how will I be able to manage this .. I have been thinking about taking a career break for some time after leave is over

I’m honestly dreading this. Daycare is so expensive and I’ve worked in so many of them it’s hard for me to trust. Im a teacher and pay for short term disability otherwise I wouldn’t get paid for maternity leave. I get 12 weeks but I’m still scared. Luckily after my 12 weeks I’ll only have about 8 weeks left of school til summer but I don’t know what I’m going to do for those 8 weeks with my baby. Our school has a daycare in it so Atleast the baby will be there with me but I’m terrified.

This is the exact reason (plus newborn daycare being sooooo expensive) that my husband and I have decided I won't go back to work after the baby is born! I'm sure I'll eventually start looking for something I can do from home, but 6 weeks is SO early and i know I'd have issues trusting others with my newborn who can't talk yet and explain what's wrong! I also thought you can take FMLA leave for giving birth! Maybe look into that

I’ll have 8 bc I’ll go for a csection. But it’s both too early. It’s ridiculous. Thankfully I can work with my baby for awhile, otherwise idk what I’d do!

I worked for several bigger private preschools from my personal experiences as both a director of a program and teacher . I’ve decided to stay at home for at least the first three years and when I do return to work. I plan on doing opposite shifts from my husband so we don’t have to use preschool at all.
