For those who have had the COVID nostril test, did they stick the swab super deep in your nostril or not too deep?

I had one and the swab wasn’t stuck too far into my nostril. It came back negative but I wonder if maybe it wasn’t deep enough?

If they properly do the test, yes it needs to be deep in the nose.

The nostril swap basically goes to the bridge of your nose. It’s the nasopharyngeal swap that is really deep.

I had mine done a week ago. They told me not to worry, that it wasn’t the one that goes all the way up. They circled my nostril 5 times and that was it. Didn’t hurt at all.

I'm a nurse and do these tests often and yes it's supposed to go pretty deep it's supposed to actually go in past your nostril kind of to the back of your throat like this

Now that I look back on it I said not super deep but in the moment it was pretty deep. My eyes watered and everything.

I had to have the test done last year for a D&C after a miscarriage I had and when they stuck the stick in my nose they made my nose bleed in both sides of my nose.

The nasopharyngeal one goes way in and was excruciating for me. The nostril swabs are all that are available in our area now, and they are self administered and not need to go deep anyway. They don’t hurt.

I've had three covid tests. They have never hurt. Slightly uncomfortable and youre eyes might water but it's not the worst thing in the world. If you breathe out of your nose at the same time you hardly feel anything. The most recent test I had I did it myself and the lady told me I only had to go up until it didn't go any further. She tests have come a long way since the beginning of the pandemic. All were nasal swabs
