Do i still pump?

Question

If I’m breast feeding do I still need to pump? Would it affect when I breastfed? Or when would I pump? My baby is only 2.5 weeks old but I had him 6 weeks early. My milk supply is not very strong when I pump so I’m unable to build a stock pile of it but when I breastfeed him he is content and sleeps after. 
I’m all new to this so any input is greatly appreciated! :) 
I was pumping every 3 hours while he was in the nicu(first two weeks)

No need to pump, if you breastfeed. If you want to have some milk in storage, I suggest use a haakaa type of thing.

I personally never pumped. I didn’t respond well and wouldn’t get anything out anyway. I’m a SAHM so I never needed any frozen milk. I was always with my girls to feed them. It really depends on your situation. If your going back to work then building a stash will help. Just beware pumping before 6 weeks or before milk is regulated could cause an offer supply

I would still pump just to relieve your boobs. If you don’t plan to bottle feed (say if you’re going back to work etc) then you can pump and dump or donate your milk. 
You don’t want to tank the supply you have if it’s already low

I wouldn’t worry about pumping just yet, it’s not recommended until 4-6 weeks PP when your supply is well established. I would recommend building a small freezer supply in case of emergency. I had a migraine when my first was about 5 months that landed me in the ER and the only medication that would help was not breastfeeding safe. I had to pump and dump for several days. If I hadn’t had a freezer supply, I’m not sure what we would’ve done since our son had never been introduced to formula. If you don’t want to get a pump and parts, etc, look into a hand pump or haaka. Both are relatively inexpensive.

I just breastfeed without pumping. Works fine. I wouldn't pump if you don't need the milk, your supply should always adjust to what your baby needa. As long as the baby is happy and has enough wet diapers you have enough milk.

You don’t have to. It’s good for when you leave your baby with someone. I used to try to pump an hour after the baby fed to try and get a supply. Also prolactin levels are highest in the wee hours of the morning, try to pump once a day in the morning if you can before little one wakes up and store that in freezer. Could even do just a few times a week.
