Is you toddler start reading by themselves?

My son started reading by himself lately, he used to enjoy we read books to him so much, but he refuse we read to him now, he prefers to read by himself, he loves books. Wondering any you toddler do the same.

Yes, but she is not actually reading. She acts as if she is reading. She recognizes the letters of her name, but does not read words. She will turn the pages in a book and say what she thinks the page says. It's a bit funny.😅

He will tell me what he thinks the story is by the picture. Mostly he’s remembered what I read, but he’s not reading really anything

She has books she's memorized, but she can't read words. She doesn't look at them when she's "reading" to me.

He looks through books himself and says what he thinks is on the page or memorises short books he reads very often  but isn’t actually reading (sounding out the words, etc).
