Is this abuse?

My dad told my mom to “shut the f**k up” in front of my little brother who is 11 and me during a family card game. It was not in a nice or joking tone whatsoever. Is this considered abusive behavior?

I think people are very quick to throw the word abuse around nowadays. I would not consider this isolated incidence abuse and I think to call it abuse outright  is counterproductive to the cause of calling out actual abuse/abusers. And I say this has someone who has been abused. When it comes to verbal/emotional abuse, I think we need a bigger picture. Is this behavior normal for their relationship, is it frequent, does it escalate? What is the context of the argument? Did your mother ask a innocent question? Or did she call a POC a slur? Your couple sentence post is enough to judge whether or not your father is abusive.
