I grew up in Florida. There are no sex Ed classes in public schools. And my parents didn't talk to me about it. The only way I learned is from experimentation.

When I was a Sophomore we had a one day, abstinence and fear based sex education class. It was ridiculous. All they did was show us pictures of STDs and pound into our heads that sex leads to pregnancy 100% of the time.

here we learned about stds, pregnancy, and the anatomy. no real questions were answered, though. I learned more from talking w/ my friends than school.

I was taught that you would catch diseases and babies and regret and heartache and all kinds of bullshit lies if I had sex before I was married. The Internet and just common sense taught me more about sex than my school did. But I still wondered why so many girls in my school were pregnant, considering that our Sex Ed was so "accurate" and "reliable"😒😒

The only reason I know so much about sex was because I was in an advanced biology course for two years. We didn't have an actual Sex Ed class, though. It was just talked about in our health class.

I had thorough sex Ed every year from grades six to nine. To my memory, this always included a box to drop anonymous questions. We covered everything from periods to homosexuality to anatomy to pregnancy to std to one particularly memorable time my grade eight male teacher was forced to talk to the entire class about dildos! Very thankful Canada believes in empowering through education!!!!!!
