In Laws being scammed
So, I need some advice.
My FIL is a contract doctor, with zero benefits. There’s a reason he does not have any saved for retirement, but that’s another story.
He is almost 70, and is getting tired of practicing medicine. However, because of money that is owed to IRS, he needs that good income to continue paying off the debt owed.
He somehow was introduced to a MLM, or scam. I can’t decide which it might be. He is paying this company for “training” on creating a website. Your website could be for anything. They train you to make money off your own website through sales. What kind of sales is up to you. It doesn’t make sense to me.
We have told him and my MIL that this is very suspicious and doesn’t sound right. He is spending thousands upon thousands on this. My husband went to school for marketing, and I went for media and communication. So, I know web design and things like that.
My in laws want to hire me and my husband to build these websites. “People have made millions doing this”, which of course raises all the red flags.
We’ve tried multiple times to tell them that they are being scammed. My MIL even said that we should work for them because it would financially benefit us (my husband and I)- even if it is a scam because then we’re getting some extra income. I have told them that I don’t feel right being paid for something that is losing them money. My husband has said the same thing and continually tried to point out that everything this company is saying is very suspicious.
They just aren’t listening to us, and we are worried. FIL is ramping up his spending even more. I know he wants a less stressful job. I totally get that… he’s getting older, and wants to calm down some. But this just isn’t the way and I feel like he’s being taken advantage of.
They won’t listen to us, and we’re very concerned. Any advice??
