Membrane Sweep?

Question

This is my second kid and I don't think I did this with my him. I was talking to my midwife about it and she said I could possibly (if I'm dilated 1cm) start getting a membrane sweep at my 37 week appointment. Has anyone had them done? Did it cause labor to start/how soon did you go into labor afterwards? 
I'm just trying to decided if I should wait a little longer or not.

I had it done at 38 weeks and 2cm dilated with my first and I had a little discomfort during and afterward but then my son was born in less than 24 hours so it was definitely worth it for me! We’ll be doing the same thing this time around!

I tried it with my first…I think around 38 weeks. I was BARELY 1cm dialated. My OB warned me it can be very uncomfortable. The moment she started I decided I couldn’t take it and asked her to stop! 🤦‍♀️ Needless to say, I don’t plan on trying it with this pregnancy either.

I had it with my first 2 babies and I didn't do anything. Then with my 3rd and 4th my doc said no. And now with baby 5 he hasn't said anything but we will see.

With my first I had one 3 days before my due date and my waters broke that night x

Had it done with my 3rd went into labor 3days later and sex helped too plan on having it done again in 4wks with this pregnancy it doesn't hurt it's just uncomfortable it's like getting checked to see if your dilated

With my first I got this done on my due date and went into labor 2hrs later. I started getting contractions right away but cause it was my first I didn’t know they were contractions until my water broke. Then I knew I was in labor. With my second it did nothing. Everyone and every pregnancy is different. Hope this helped

My obgyn won’t do it until 39 weeks. I did it with my last pregnancy and had her 12 hours later. That was my third baby and first time I didn’t have to be induced .

Why would they do that? I thought they offered that if you had issues getting labor to start passed your due date.
