8 month old tall?

I’m super annoyed because my mom bought me a brand new crib for my son when I was pregnant. So nice, turns into a bigger bed eventually. Anyway. My son learned how to stand, which is so great! But wth. He literally stands in the crib and looks like he could go over the bars. & it’s on the lowest setting! How the hell is that possible? So what, now do I put him in the pack and play to sleep? I just can’t believe this crap.

A sleep sack will help too they can’t stand up very well in a sleep sack. But maybe double check it can’t go down one more setting. That’s brutal if it can’t.

Are you positive it's on the lowest setting? I don't mean to question you but it seems odd that they wouldn't have a lower setting if it can convert to a toddler bed. Idk if this is an option, but I know if a toddler is able to climb out but it's on the earlier side of moving to a toddler bed, they recommend dropping the mattress all the way down so it sits on the floor. But only if laying on it doesn't allow them to squish it down enough and get pinched. 
If he's not too tall for the pack n play, of course that's a safer option. If his head is over the rail when he is standing in the crib, then he could definitely fall out. Their little heads are heavy lol.

If it is on the lowest setting maybe you can put the mattress on the floor inside the crib frame. I had to do this with my son, he liked to climb out of his crib.  As long as there is no gap between the mattress and the bottom rail of the crib it should be safe. I’m not sure how your crib is made but if there are rails on all the sides ( no solid parts) and the back is higher than the front, you could turn it around backwards so it is a little higher. 
If nothing else have you thought about doing the mattress on the floor without the crib? I know it’s early but if you run out of options 🤷🏼‍♀️
