Can I refuse Pap smear?

I have my 10 week appt tmrw, they’re going to draw blood, and do a Pap smear. I got a papsmear last year in may with a different ob. I now have a new ob. Can I just refuse it? I really don’t want to get another one lol.

Of course you can but why? It won’t hurt your baby and it’s routine to get one during pregnancy. Also a yearly pap is a normal timeframe no? I get one every year.

You can refuse any and all treatments, tests, swabs, medical interventions of any kind. That’s the point of informed consent - doctors do not get to tell you that you “have” to do anything. 
Personally, I don’t get regular paps because they keep changing the recommendations anyway. When I was 17 they told me “when you’re 21 or sexually active.” Then it was “oh just when you’re 21 or older and every year after that.” When I was 22 it became “every 3 years.” When I was 24 i got one and then they told me “every 5 years.” 
I have low risk factors so I’m refusing them at this point.

It's routine to get a pap smear during pregnancy, some women even end up having multiple during the course of their pregnancy. I had to get one at my second appointment when I was pregnant but it was the only one I had to have my entire pregnancy I'd say just suck it up and get it done they do it because it's necessary but Im sure you have the right to refuse it.

Where im from they wont do it during pregnancy. In the uk we have them every 3 years unless obviously something abnormal shows up, but yes you can refuse one, its your body and no one can force you to have one while pregnant or if you’ve had one last year. It’s completely up to you

I had a Pap smear at my GP in the November before I conceived the following May. The OB just asked when my last one was and was happy with that .

They do Pap smears because they are important I would say have it done I has one done when I was 10 weeks and another one at 15 weeks.

Just tell them you had one last year and they can request your records. You def don’t need another one and you have every right to refuse anything you want when it’s your body

Yep you can refuse it! I’d just let them know why/that you had one elsewhere

New guidance is that if you haven't had an abnormal test you only need one every 5 years, I think. My midwife said they'll wait until baby is born for mine

100% yes. I always refuse when pregnant. It’s unnecessary. My OB never pressures me.
My friend was told that if she didn’t submit to a Pap smear in early pregnancy they would no longer see her as a patient, even though she was NOT due for it for a year.
