Can anyone in the medical field tell me??

TRIGGER WARNING!!  I’ve started working at a rehabilitation center a few days ago. Like 2 days & since I’ve noticed the place is covered in roaches, secondly the aids beat the residents  my first night there was a shit show I reported it the DON and only a verbal training was given, but tonight really topped the cake for me when the lady that was training me literally spanked a resident we were putting to bed, I’ve already discussed with another facility in regards to be transferred. But the last 2  nights I’ve done nothing but come home & cry to my boyfriend be understands but he’s not in the field to actually know why this breaks my heart, I got off hours ago and my mind is literally racing! I’ve never experienced any thing so Inhumane in my life. & the DONs and administrators will do nothing about the situation my heart hurts for every resident in the building. Please pray for my sanity & that my transfer is approved ASAP! Please also say a prayer for an entire building of residents that I’m leaving behind my heart is so heavy writing this.
-also please no criticism, I’ve reported every abuse I seen the last 48hrs it keeps being Over looked which is why I’ve decided to leave I believe I have a PTSD just for working with here !

Surely there is a governing body you can report this to? Otherwise leak it to the media. Those people deserve to be blasted.

Report it to their licensing agency and human rights advocate. If it's a county or state run facility, report it to them as well.

What's really sad is that most people cannot even fathom that this type of abuse and neglect is common. It happens in all nursing/rehabilitation homes to a certain degree. 
The better ones will commit "smaller" sins like making a resident wait for their food, blankets or comforts. They may let them sit without a change for 15 or 20 min. They may skip bath days here and there or neglect to do a "wipe down" for a few days.
The worst of them will actually physically abuse, wantonly neglect, let residents sit in their own excrement for hours and not bathe them for days. 
It's awful.
The only defenses a senior in this situation has is to either pay top dollar for a top notch place or have a rabid family member who visits often and at different times during the day and night.

There should be a patient ombudsman. Report to them. Report the physical abuse to the police if you don't know how to find the ombudsman. You need to report outside of the building and company. Also, report the DON to their supervisor. Just be prepared for retaliation.
