REALLY Upset with My OBGYN

So I'm currently 11 days late for my period but getting negative tests. I'm usually 30-32 days with my cycle. I called my doctor's office and spoke to her nurse and explained everything (we've been trying since February with no medical conditions currently hindering us). I asked them should I come in for blood work to check for any HCG and instead they are going to put me on a prescription to start my period instead-without doing any blood work. Should I be as upset about this as I am right now? Will this prescription mess up my cycle? She said I would have to take it for ten days. It just really bothers me that she wouldn't check just to be sure.
