Labor kick started from cervical check?

Last night at about 5p.m we went into L&D because I was concerned my bladder wasn’t fully emptying. When using the restroom I felt as though urine was left over due to intense cramping while peeing. 
I’ve had a treated UTI since 31 weeks and am currently 37 weeks. 
All looked good and they did a cervical check to which they said I was 3cm dilated about 60% effaced. I woke up last night from two decent contractions that I definitely felt in my back and this morning I’m beginning to have more fairly frequent mild to moderate contractions also in my back🥲
Has anyone ever gone into labor after a cervical check? I’m a FTM and curious lol

They don’t do checks here unless you’re actually in labour but I definitely think the check shifted something and sped up my labour! I was having contractions for 14 hours and they were about 3 mins apart when I got to the hospital but I was only 1cm when I was checked, straight after the check I was having extreme contractions really close together and was fully dilated within about 6 hours. Not an expert though just my experience 😊

I had my cervical checkup yesterday at 36 weeks 3 days . My doctor told me I’m 1 cm dilated. Since from yesterday I’m having pain . Feel likes contractions sometime .. but i hope my body could hold little bit more this baby ....

Cervical checks come with risks such as premature rupture of membranes and infection. I wouldn't agree to have anymore if I were you.

Not unless they did an unintentional sweep at the same time but dehydration can also cause contractions too

It is extremely unlikely that just checking dilation will jump start labor. It is common to cramp hours after a check though and to even have some spotting. You can be experiencing regular cramping or braxton hicks. Both of which last long and dont have a typical/ noticeable start and stop pattern. Contractions will be pretty distinct from your braxton hicks. So if you can time it at all you should expect each contractions to only last 20seconds to 1min if your in the early stages.
