Baby has two white areas in mouth?

My 9 month old has ran a fever going on 3 days with no other symptoms, today I was able to take a good look in his mouth when he was crying, he has two small white areas on the inside side parts of his mouth, not in the back where I thought I’d see if he had tonsillitis, it’s towards the front, basically on the sides where his teeth are. What are they? At first I thought tonsillitis but it’s not towards the back, and there’s no redness towards the back either, just those spots in the front, one of them look slightly red but the other doesn’t. I’ve heard of hand foot and mouth, but everywhere else on his body is fine, honestly was shocked he even got anything. We haven’t even left the house in weeks so no contact outside. Our clinic doesn’t open till Monday, but I don’t think it’s serious to be in the ER for hours when COVID 19 variant has picked up in our hospital, do I just wait till Monday for the clinic where he’s normally seen?
