What would you do? In-laws stole our money and kicked us out

Y’all I’m at a loss I’ll keep it short but please bare with me! I’m 8 months pregnant and we moved in with our in laws in a different state. Cross the country because they told us everything would be provided for and they loved us. 
Sold and donated everything we had for a promise of a better life for our son living with them. Maxed out credit cards to move down there and we were tricked. 
Everything that was promised was a lie, they treated us like dirt. Everything was our fault even when it clearly wasn’t. They could do no wrong. They beat my dog and cat when we weren’t home and now my cat is traumatized. We kept asking why we were being treated like this and they just told us “that’s the way we are, take it or leave”  but we have no where else to go, we are now broke and stuck. 
On august 1st, We paid them our last $300 for us to live in one of their bedrooms near the garage for the month of august. (Plus We paid them $500 for the month of July) On august 4th the mom said we had 3 days to get out unprovoked and unprompted. After taking our money. This would be the second time we have to move cross country while I’m 8 months pregnant. We asked for the money back and they told us they would pay us on Friday august 13th, which would be after she told us we had to be out. Well we took their word for it as we had no choice. Friday came and went and they haven’t paid us thru cash app or anything. Ignoring our texts and calls and not answering. 
We gave up our entire lives to go down there and have nothing again, So we sold my sons crib and changing table, sold what baby clothes and diapers we could, asked everyone we knew for help and was able to have some friends let us stay on their couch for a few weeks until we can move again… 
I’m so depressed y’all, as that $300 was all we had until next paycheck and because my husband had to take a week off work to move again our check is going to be only a few hundred dollars. 
What would you do? Would you keep trying to get the money back from his parents? We never plan on talking to them again even if we got our money back but now my son is due in 2 months and I don’t have anything for him anymore 😭😭😭 idk where he’s gonna sleep or if we will even have a house or just a couch to sleep on when he’s born. 
My doctors are watching me for preeclampsia as I have all the symptoms/signs and have had to lift many heavy things to move and pack twice in 5 weeks. I can barely walk my whole legs are so swollen. 
What would you do? Please no judgement or rude comments as we were financially stable and had a house when we got pregnant. 
We just got tricked.
UPDATE 
We called them one last time and they actually answered the phone, they stated they were NOT giving the money back, they wouldn’t tell us why. We asked why they said they would give it back in the first place then and they said “we didn’t know we were gonna have to vacuum your room after you guys moved” 
1st off, vacuuming a 10ft X 10 ft hardwood floor room shouldn’t cost $300, and second, you locked up the closet that had the vacuum and broom in it so we couldn’t access it because you were scared we were gonna do something with it when we were moving?! (Implied we were gonna steal her vacuum) we just eventually hung up and my husband and I have been up all night thinking about it. 
Trying to move on and just accept it but wow is it harder than I thought! Lol pray for me haha

If you have evidence about how they told you all of this. Go to the police. You might need to get a job and have a friend watch the baby and try to save up as much as possible for your own place or find a roommate and live with them for a while till you can afford a place of your own. The baby is going to be in ur room for the first 6 months or so.

I would take them to small claims court for return of rent due to an illegal eviction. I would also try to get a quick job doing door dash and file for government assistance. 
Also, once you find a place and settle in, I have tons of baby boy clothes & items that my son grew out of. I would be glad to mail you all of this stuff if you want it.

Hey, I'm so sorry you are going through all this. I am heartbroken for you. I suggest that you just forget about the $300, since it will cost you more to take them to court and attempt to prove it. Don't worry, they will have to pay for what they did one way or the other. Try to look into any and all government assistance you qualify for. Try to find a job that doesn't involve heavy lifting or anything that can effect you or your baby. I know its hard and it seems impossible when you are in the situation itself, but just do your best and things will hopefully get better. Can you confirm if this is your registry, if you don't mind, please?

Legally they can’t kick you out with only three days notice. You could literally call the police and just go back there to live until you figure out what to do. I think it’s something like 90 days they are supposed to give you. The problem with that is now there’s a hostile environment that’s been created and it’s really no place for a stressed out pregnant woman to be. You probably won’t get your money and taking them to court over $300 is not worth it. You’ll be paying a lawyer more money than that to get it.
If I were in your shoes, I would find work fast and get started saving ASAP. Even if it’s just doing Instacart or Uber or something like that. I would be hustling my ass off to get on my feet. In the future, that’s what you should do instead of depending on other people.

I would triage the situation. Address what is most critical first. You can't control if they give you the money back, or when. I would focus on rehousing and connecting with all resources you can. Many non profits support women and infants, including donated baby items. Sign up for all social support services you can. While what your in laws did was aggregeous, you need to focus on what you can do at this point to help yourself and your family.

If you have proof of everything you can try to convince someone that you left behind your life because of a written and clear promise that these people made that you would have in no way left had they not given you their word. But that’s really rough....

I’d just forget the money and focus on getting on your feet. Are u trying to move back or stay? Maybe look into homeless shelters… some offer transition services for families that offer housing, job locating, and supplies.

I am so sorry you had to go through this, I also went through a similar situation with my in-laws but I wasn’t pregnant at the time and I was working when my mother in-law kicked my husband out and 3 of our kids she kept all our belongings. My kids had no clothes to wear for school the next day. We had just paid rent as well and only $24 in our bank account and nowhere to go. We called the police but she refused to let us go in the house or get any of our belongings. I paid an attorney who served her twice with paperwork, and she ignored it, went to court and she lied under oath and tried filing a restraining order against us and filed a false report with child protective services to take our kids away but our kids spoke up about their grandmothers crazy behavior. We lost everything, we managed her convenience stores and lost our jobs as well all during this pandemic in February 2020.
