Do you pay for dates and outings or does your man pay usually?

Hi ladies, I’m wondering do you all usually pay for dates and outings or does your man do so? Does he spoil you sometimes with gifts and nails/hair? Is your relationship a 50/50 one? I’m wondering because the guy I was with for 6 months told me I must want him to take care of me, and that I should pay for some of our outings when I asked him why he got mad at me when I asked if he would buy my lunch while we were out with my friends. He rarely buys me things at all other than paying for my gas and food  when he was using MY car. He cuts my grass and will do small work around the house but he told me I shouldn’t expect him to take care of my nails and toes just because it’s what I’m used to from my Dad taking care of it when I was single. Am I wrong for assuming the man I’m with should treat me sometimes and pay for most of the outings? Also, In the past few months, I’ve surprised him with small gifts, bought groceries and prepared meals for us.

You are 1000000000% wrong for assuming the man you’re with should pay for all that!!! I would never ask anyone to pay for anything!! My relationship we are 50/50 and always have been. You need to develop your own independence and not rely on anyone to take care of you. If you want a man to take care of you then you need to make that known in the beginning so they know what they’re getting themselves into.

It’s sounds like y’all aren’t compatible. From your other reply, you’re used to seeing a man take care of things so you should get a man that does that. Don’t settle for what you don’t want.

I’m married and a SAHM so my husband takes care of all of that. Yes, I get my hair done and my nails done and everything. We are a partnership. He works and I take care of our kids and our home. 
But…we are married and have been for 13 years.

My perspective is appreciate when it’s offered but don’t expect it. 
In my relationship I’m incredibly spoiled, especially financially. I focus on school and he works to support us. He also goes above and beyond to surprise me with gifts, dates, nice dinners, out for drinks, stuff like that on a regular basis. I absolutely adore the surprises and appreciate each and everything, but I dont expect a thing from him 
When I was still working we did everything 50/50 as much as we could. For example a dinner and a movie date. He drove so I paid for half the gas. he paid for dinner so I bought movie snacks and the tip for the check. So on and forth. 
No matter how often they offer to pay, don’t assume that they will.

Sometimes, relationships don’t end up working because of unmet expectations. Either two things are to blame in this scenario: the relationship for not living up the expectations, or the expectations that were just set too high. Make sure that you’re not the type of girl who instigates the latter. You shouldn’t be setting exceedingly high expectations for your boyfriends. It's totally unreasonable for you to ask him to live up to your own personal fantasies of the type of man that he should be like. Love is about acceptance and compromise. You should be able to accept the entirety of his being. If you love him at his best, then you should also love him at his worst. It’s never a sure thing that he’ll always be able to provide what you want. That’s how relationships work. Love him for who he is and not for who you want him to be or what he has to offer. My boyfriend and I are pretty much entirely 50/50. We may buy something for the other and “spoil” them occasionally, but it’s voluntary and not expected. If I want to do something nice for myself and it’s my idea then I pay. And same goes for him. If never expect him to pay for something like getting my nails done.

When I’m in a relationship the guy pays for the dates. I will pay at times. A guy never paid for my nails or toes. It’s nice to feel spoiled at times. My one ex who I lost my virginity to we stayed over night for my birthday/6 months. The hotel was 170ish he couldn’t even pay the whole thing… and i offered buying dinner he took my offer. But still would be nice to be spoiled for that time. It was a toxic relationship. A week after he brokeup with me and broke my heart.

I agree with the ladies above ^ in a dating scenario don’t make it a expectation, since you are dating and getting to know each other. You can mention that you expect that since day one but this day and age I don’t think any man would succumb to that any more. Now, for my relationship my bf of 6 months will pay for our dinners and desserts and randomly say hey, here’s money to get your nails and hair done but that comes from him. 🙂

i personally feel like you deserve what you feel you deserve. if you believe that you deserve to be taken care of that way, you need to look for someone who is going to do all those things. And trust, there are men who also believe you should be treated that way. 
my partner is always doing those things for me, he knows I could hold my own. But he wants to do it because he knows if he doesn’t, someone else will, including me.

I pay for everything out with bills and debt and I give him money for things every month. 
But I make a lot more money than him so I don’t mind. Everything else we split 50/50
