How should we spell it? (Read description)

Question

If we have a boy, he will likely be named for his paternal grandfather, which my husband and I agree on. And he will also have our/my husband’s surname. My first name is Lauren, but I don’t go by it. Should we use Laurence as a middle name for a boy so he has a name from my side too? If so, how should we spell it? I just love the idea of using a family name or name with other special significance vs. a random name we happen to like. And I like Laurence/Lawrence! Thanks!

Even though you put the disclaimer to read before voting, I think a lot of people just clicked the most common spelling (Lawrence) immediately. That’s what I did before noticing the heading said to read it first. After following instructions lol I would go with Laurence as it’s suppose to be after you and if you spell it Lawrence it kind of takes the significance away.

I’ve always found the Lawrence spelling more visually attractive. I remember wishing an author I liked as a kid spelled his Lawrence instead of Laurence just because I liked him and was super opinionated about names from an early age, apparently.
But I don’t think it matters either way in terms of similarity to your name. They aren’t both first names, so being “too similar” isn’t a concern, in my opinion. And they’re still clearly related so being too different isn’t a problem either.

I voted for Lawrence, because it’s the classic way to spell it, and I’m not a huge fan of unique spelling
