So what is the verdict - do babies run a temp with teething or not?

My 12 month old just cut his first molar and is running a temp between 99° and 99.8°F. Teething or something else? I hear such conflicting reports on this, including from doctors!

That isnt really a fever, it's warm. Yes they can get a little warm when teething. A full blown fever 100.5+, thats a virus or other issue

My girl has been teething for a while and always feels warm, but is never over 99.6 degrees!

Teething can cause inflammation. 
Inflammation can cause a temperature increase. 
If it’s over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit then it’s an immune response, but low grade is probably from teeth! My physician brother in law disagrees... but both my kids hovered around 99 degrees F when teething.

Everyone runs a temp. It’s if it is a fever. And the temps you stated aren’t a fever, only normal limits. 
My oldest always ran high fevers 103-104 with teething. Especially with molars and canines.

They can have an elevated temp while teething. Doctors say they don't run a fever so that parents aren't just blowing off that their child could be sick.

In my experience they can feel warm but not actually run a fever. I would keep your eye out for a virus though because a lot of things are going around
