Almond milk allergy ?

My 1 yr old has transitioned from similar alimentum to cows milk. He had milk protein allergy since birth. He seems to be doing fine on the cows milk just a but more gassy. I have him almond milk and noticed blood in them. Anyone else have issues with almond milk? Could this be a allergy? He does strain some when he goes as well

Did you do the milk ladder before transitioning from the formula to cow’s milk? I see in one of your other comments you said he’d had cow’s milk for a week. Did you only give the almond milk once? If so, I’d think it more likely to be a delayed reaction to the cows milk than to the one off almond milk. Or a build up reaction to the cows milk-that he can tolerate a small amount but when it builds up, it affects him. You could try soya milk (next best in terms of nutrient content to cows milk) if he can take soya, or oat milk. If the almond milk was a one off, I’d lay off cows milk for a couple of weeks and do one of the alternative milks until he’s settled again, and then try cows milk again to see if the blood comes back again. But I wouldn’t mix what milk I use during that week-use one type so you know what he might be reacting to. (And try not to introduce any other new foods to his diet during that time for the same reason.). Maybe he’s not reacting and it’s just his gut adjusting to the change and it settles quickly-fingers crossed!

My son has milk protein allergy as well. When we switched him to milk, we tried everything. We gave each type of milk we tried at least a week to see how it would affect him. The only one that seemed not to bother him was the Lactaid. I hope you find answers. 😊

It’s possible. Let his doctor know. Maybe try rice milk? My parents had a heck of a time navigating food allergies with me when I was a kid. I have a milk protein allergy too. Allergic to soy also. So I wasn’t left with much choice. Good luck!
