Sleeping through the night?

Question

Hey all, at what age did your babies start sleeping through the night? And how many hours roughly? 
My son is only two weeks old - sometimes he wakes up twice in the night and sometimes he sleeps for up to 7 hours at night. Should I be waking him for feeds or when is it normal to let them sleep through?

I’d definitely be waking baby up if they haven’t eaten for 4 hours. That’s the medical advice.

When they’re a newborn you should wake them every 2-3 hours for a feeding. After around 4 weeks it’s okay to let them go for 4. Then the rule after that is an hour a week. So at 8 weeks, your baby is okay to sleep 8 hour stretches. My baby started sleeping 6 hour stretches around 2 months I think and now it can be anywhere from 8-11 hour stretches and she’s 3 months.

Should definitely be waking him up to feed him. I just had my son and was advised he should feed every 2-3 hours. They won't like it but they need to eat.

Mine woke up when she was hungry. By 4 months she slept through the night. Pediatrician was good with it because she was at a healthy weight and still gaining

Our doctor said they need to be fed every 3-4 hours and if they aren’t waking on their own you still need to wake them to feed until 2 months.  That being said after 2 months both my babes slept through the night! Relaxation music that I listened to while they were still in my belly then continued to play for them after birth while they slept I pay a HUGE contribution to! Hoping for the same luck on my 3rd! 😬

According to my pediatrician, with babies that young, you should be waking them every 3ish hours to feed.￼ Until they are about a month old they will just sleep all the time if you let them and it can be hard to distinguish between regular sleep and sleeping because they have no energy due to lack of food in their little bellies. 
Once they are five or six weeks old, more or less, they will 100% let you know when they’re hungry and can go longer overnight. 
￼All of this is assuming your babe was full term, healthy, gaining weight appropriately and has a good amount of wet and dirty diapers every day.

I would check with baby’s doctor, usually if they’ve passed their birth weight you don’t need to wake them! 
Our baby started doing 5-6 hour stretches around 7 weeks. He’s now 4 months and sleeps 8 or 9 hours :) but every baby is different. For many it takes time.
