Combination birth control

I started birth control because I have an irregular period. I was concerned it would cause other issues down the line. I started on a Wednesday which didn’t matter because I haven’t gotten my period yet this month even though it’s suggested you start on a Sunday. I ended up having some period symptoms starting last week and now I’m on my period. Should I continue taking the pills with hormones or start the non-hormonal week pills and then start on the Sunday like the package suggests? Not sure what to do, I haven’t been on a pill before..
